1/2 lb ground beef
2 large onions, chopped
1 qt. water
1 q. tomatoes
5 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
3 large carrots, peeled and sliced
1 t salt
ground pepper
2 bay leaves
Cheddar Cheese
Saute ground beef and onions until browned and soft. Add water and tomatoes, then vegetables and seasoning. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer about 1 hour until vegetables are just tender. Season to taste. Cut cheese into cubes and put in the bottom of bowls, ladle soup over cheese.
