Sugar Cookies

Cookie Dough:
1/2 Cup Butter
1/4 Cup Crisco
1 Cup Sugar
2 Eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Salt
2 1/2 Cups Flour
Mix ingredients together. Chill dough for 1 hour(I rarely chill my dough and they always turn out). Roll dough about 1/4'' thick and cut with cookie cutters. Preheat oven to 4oo degrees F. Bake 7-8 minutes.

Frosting:
1/3 Cup Butter
4 1/2 Cups Powder Sugar
1/4 Cup Milk
1 1/2 tsp. Almond Extract
Mix all the above ingredients with a hand mixer.

Sugar cookies are good anytime of course, but my favorite sugar cookies to make are Halloween and Valentines. These cookies come from this old Betty Crocker's Cooky Book. This is the recipe my Mom always made growing up, and we just do a few things different than the actual recipe.
The frosting recipe I use is from my sister Melissa, and I am not sure where she got it from!
